the quick version until then:
• turned at 26 by a particularly cruel vampire in the early 1900s
• spent a while being a miserable wallower that killed to feed
• got his shit together at the start of WWII and decided to pour all his efforts into hunting the vampire that turned him instead
• no more human murder, mostly tries to steal blood, occasionally befriends witches for brews that almost emulate human blood (less effective but also less murder), rarely will bite drunks but won't kill
• moves in both human + supernatural circles posing as a PhD student working on a thesis with relevance to the area.

• kind of dry, sardonic little asshole.
• always has a smart answer, always needs the last word
• desperately focused on finding the vampire that turned him, which makes him a bit of a bore re: social life
• is secretly a little bit very sad because he's never found a good coping mechanism to deal with his death/the events surrounding that. also everyone he ever knew as a human is long dead so he's a bit lonely bless him.
• can be cheerful and even bubbly on occasions when the stars align just perfectly, but that really doesn't happen very often.
